LEN Workshop – Youth Engagement
November 2, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
By the end of this workshop, you will have an actionable strategy for how to do effective youth engagement in your organization. This workshop will outline how you can attract more young people to your organization and create opportunities for them to meaningfully contribute. You will have a chance to design your youth engagement strategy with feedback from young people involved with the London Youth Advisory Council and several high school environment clubs. Please invite any young people who are already involved with your organization to participate, as they will have some of the best ideas for how to improve youth outreach!
Sarah is a sophomore at London Central Secondary School and the president of their Central Environmental Club. She is also the Ward 13 councillor on the London Youth Advisory Council. Alongside 4 members of the Central Environmental Club, Sarah has won Forest Ontario’s Envirothon Southwestern Regional competition and placed as a provincial finalist during the 2017 Envirothon Provincial Competition. Sarah is passionate about the health of the Great Lakes, the algae bloom crises, and advocating on climate change.
Raghad El Niwairi is the London Youth Advisory Council’s Ward 12 councillor and is a passionate activist committed to eliminating oppression in all its aggressive forms. She is currently a leader in a community organization named the InterAction Collective that works to obliterate racism in London high schools and was awarded the 2017 London Community Foundation’s J. Allyn Taylor Community Service Award for similar work.
Please bring any youth volunteering for your organization currently.
